Reunited and it feels so Good

After almost 5 years since we graduated from College, my batch mates finally got together for a special affair: Saissa's baby shower. What was supposedly a home visit became a lunch out so everyone's limited time could be accommodated due to their work schedules. We missed Maybelle and Roselle though.

Saissa thought it was a pre-birthday celebration for Ingrid. That was part of the surprise. But that celebration was really for her  baby shower minus the balloons and princess tiaras.

We met up at Shakey's Limketkai for our lunch date. It was a great bonding time. We recalled some of the fun moments in college and talked about our own careers and some mommy tips from sexy mommy Hanna.

From left: Bing, Ingrid, Me, Saissa, and Hanna

Our surprise to the soon-to-be-mother
It's a girl!

We may have had lived our own lives. We may have taken different career paths. We may have barely communicated. But it still feels great to get together and remember the good memories and fun times we had when we were together in college as students.

Reunited and it feels so good!

Oh no, Balut!

I thought it was easy to eat something exotic. Most people enjoy them. I, for sure do not. And it was confirmed last night when I had my first encounter with Balut.

"Balut is a fertilized duck embryo that is boiled and eaten in the shell. Popularly believed to be an aphrodisiac and considered a high-protein, hearty snack, balut are mostly sold by street vendors in the regions where they are available. It is commonly sold as street food in the Philippines".
(source: wikipedia)

I was eager to try out of curiosity. So I dared.

I bought a 16-day old and 17-day old eggs. I decided to eat them at home to avoid the pressure of passersby and the balut vendor's stares.

The moment.

I had to sip the "juice" first. It was a back and forth motion before I finally took a sip. It tasted a little sweet and a little sour. The juice was..well..okay (for lack of a better word).

But then I had to peel the shell off to see what was inside  and eat it. And it made me back out. But it was a dare to myself, so I had to continue.

Me: "I think that's hair!?"

Me: "It is hair!!!" (actually, feathers). I felt the feathers slide on my tongue and I had to spit them out. I didn't like the feel nor the taste of it. And it made me swallow a spoonful or two of vinegar (supposedly for seasoning of balut) to wash away the funny taste.

Close, Open. Close, Open. I didn't feel like seeing what I was eating. It might just add up to the growing need not to pursue finishing my balut.

Eventually, someone had to finish the whole thing for me. Sad. But I could no longer do it. I tried but I failed. How much more if it was already a duck fetus inside! Whoa!

That's Hello and Goodbye Balut!

Reminiscing: Dress as a Native

The best thing about our trip to Baguio with my family 2 years ago was Dressing Up as an Igorot. There is one area across The Mansion where you pay to dress up and take unlimited shots while posing as a native.

Surely, I enjoyed this much!

Terms of Scorpio

My birth date falls under the Zodiac Sign: Scorpio.

I followed @ScorpioTerms on twitter to know what it says about Scorpio people - character, personality, likes and dislikes.

Some points I can totally relate:

1. A Scorpio is creative by nature and is original in style and unique in thought.

2. A Scorpio is not afraid to tell you straight up what they need to say.

3. Never betray the trust of a Scorpio. It will take a very long time before they will be able to trust you again.

4. A Scorpio loves their personal space. Don't enter uninvited.

5. A Scorpio is not easily intimidated.

6. A Scorpio may be calm on the face but inside they rage.

7. A Scorpio hides their emotions.

8. A Scorpio's deep passion but guarded personality makes them difficult to read and understand.

9. If hurt, a Scorpio really stings -- and does not forgive easily!

10. Scorpios never play what they know they can't win.

11.Scorpio tends to be extreme in everything they do. They intensely LOVE. They intensely HATE. No middle ground here.

12. As a Scorpio you are passionate and committed to your friends and ruthless with your enemies.

13. Scorpio's eagerness often lands them in difficult and unwanted situations.

14. Scorpio finds it difficult to keep their mouth shut when they dislike someone.

15. You may not know it or even see it but a Scorpio is always suspicious of everyone and everything.

What does your Sign tell about you?

Girlie

Meet the 5th member in the family. Our Pekingese-Poodle Puppy? Oh forgot to mention she's already 13 this month. Wow!

Well most of the time she's a snob. She doesn't want you cuddling her, or lay beside her, and doesn't approach when called. But every time we leave the house and come back later, there she is on her hyperactive mode and cries and leaps and scratches at you until you carry her and have her lick your face. Or when you ring the bell on her dog chain and collar, she gets really excited as it means she gets to go outside for a short walk and bark at other dogs outside.

Here she is caught in the act early this morning, went inside my mother's room, jumped on the bed, and slept soundly until she heard me approach her and gave me the snob look. ^-^ Cute though. She means to say not to disturb her. So I left. She's the boss! But not before i took a few shots of our irresistibly cute little sister.

Meet Girlie.

She barks at you on your first encounter then in a few minutes tries to befriend you especially when you're holding some food on your fingers.

She doesn't walk, she brisk walks. You try to tell her to slow down, but she doesn't listen. She gets too excited to stop and wait for you.

She loves ice candy. It amazes me when she can sense if I or my brother brought home ice candies. She can consume a piece and still asks for more. Gives you that pity-me-coz-i'm-cute look.

She loves sneaking inside our bedrooms and secretly sleeps beside us but moves out when we notice her. Ma-pride!

She doesn't like taking a bath! Always a struggle to bathe her. You also get wet from top to bottom with a few scratches.

She barks so loud. But she's really harmless.

That's our cute little princess.Isn't she adorable?

Crafty Lady

On my way home I stumbled upon this cute Arts and Crafts Boutique in Pabayo-Gaerlan Street -- Crafty Lady.

This little store sells beautifully crafted pieces of art. From clay figurines and frames to wooden decors to vintage items to scrap book materials to cross stitch patterns to Handmade Cards, Crafty Lady is a haven to the arts and crafts lovers out there.

Crafty Lady also sell Papemelroti products and Salay Handmade Papers and Crafts.

I grabbed two items on the shelves: A Beauty in A Box  - home made beauty remedies written on square sheets inside a small box made of recycled paper, And A Wall Decor - "Today's Advice" where you close your eyes and point your finger at the poster and you do the advice your finger lands on (like "Give a hug").

Oh how I love Arts and Crafts ~ My simple joys.

Echoserang Palaka

Despedidas are bittersweet memories. Oh well.

A colleague who is also a dear friend is off to new challenges. I'm already missing her company. No more cheetos, no more "friendship", no more food trips, And most of all, no more "echoserang palaka!" - Charlotte's famous expression.

We, together with a few colleagues, had a simple dinner followed by a 3 hour non-stop videoke session as her despedida party (?) last Tuesday.

To cut the story short, we made the most of the remaining time with Charlotte before she left last Wednesday. It was a blast.

*thanks Randy for the photos

Farewell Charlot-te!

Til we see each other again Echoserang Palaka!

Digital Scrap Booking

I discovered a new love - Digital Scrap Booking!

I always have the love for Arts and Crafts. Getting your hands busy to make a work of art gives me an exciting feeling like a child eager to get hold of his/her new toy.

I stumbled upon Shabby Princess - a website on Free Digital Scrap Booking Designs. Here you can download Digital Scrap Book Designs for your personal consumption only. I got to download paper designs and embellishment collections for free and I tried experimenting on them.

Here's what I made which served as a Cover Photo on my Face Book Page:

I'm already hooked in Digital Scrap Booking since Day 1!

Just to show you, I made another design for my Blackberry phone's wallpaper:

Pag Ibig

After 6 years and 4 months, this green little bear still sits in one corner of our house.

He was given to me inside a candy-wrapped magazine paper way back in College as a Christmas gift.

Years may pass..

Just a thought since I'm loving this song "Pag-Ibig" by Yeng Constantino:

Love the lyrics.
